INDIA YOGA HOLIDAY

I will be leading a one-week yoga workshop in Basunti, a beautiful retreat set in a nature reserve in the foothills of the Himalayas.


This is a combination of yoga retreat and holiday with a chance to  get a taste of Indian culture, spending time in Amritsar and seeing the amazing Golden Temple, the holiest shrine of the Sikh religion.



THE YOGA


The style, based on Scaravelli’s insights, is gentle, with plenty of time given to getting into postures, leaving students feeling stronger and more focused as well as much more relaxed.



DAILY ROUTINE


We will be practicing yoga and pranayama during two sessions of approx two hours daily. In the mornings we will practice on the roof of the main house, where colourful birds fly overhead and magnificent vultures prepare their nests on a nearby tree.


Meals are taken on the veranda, with fresh vegetables from the garden and fruit from the trees surrounding the house. 


Afternoons are yours, but usually spent lazing around the freshwater pool or swimming in the lake watching the water Buffalo cool down.


Our second yoga session of the day is practiced in the lovely yoga hut by the pond, before supper.



FOOD


The kitchen is under the direction of Dave Butterworth who was a founder member of Neal’s Yard bakery and who produces a mouth-watering array of both European and local vegetarian dishes, whole-wheat breads, pastries and fresh juices. Fresh

line-caught fish from the lake is an option for non-vegetarians.



DETAILS


The cost of the yoga week at Basunti is £500 to include:

  1. -Three meals a day and soft drinks

  2. -Bed for 7 nights (price based on two sharing).

  3. -Two yoga classes a day

  4. -Transfers from Amritsar to Basunti

  5. -Single supplement £200

Does NOT include flights from the UK.
